TRANSIT 2012: THE ATMOSPHERE OF VENUS

This series of images show the atmospheric arc of Venus during its ingress on the Sun on June 5th 2012. At the beginning, only a part of the arc is visible (over its north pole). The reason why the arc is brighter over the poles of Venus is unknown.
Equipment:  Nikon D4 (1/8000s 100 iso), Takahashi FSQ-106ED refractor on EM-11 mount with Baader Herschel prism and FFC amplifier.
